Has your Windows 10 Start menu stopped working?

Some users who upgraded to Windows 10 are finding out that their Start Menu does not open or Start Button is not working. If you are facing this issue, here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try to fix this issue.

Before you proceed, you can also create a system restore point first, so that you can revert back, if you find that the results are not what you expected.

Step 1:

Try to run a System File Checker (SFC) scan to check for any file corruption. SFC scan will scan for corrupt system files on the computer and repair them.

  1. Press Windows key + X, click Command Prompt (Admin).
  2. In the Command Prompt, type the following command, and then press ENTER:

sfc /scannow.

Restart the computer, once the scan gets over and see if it helped.

Step 2:

Open a Command Prompt (Admin). Copy-paste the following and press Enter

Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

Restart the computer, once the scan gets over and see if it helped.

Steps 3:

Open an elevated PowerShell window .

  1. Press Windows key + X, click Command Prompt (Admin).
  2. In the Command Prompt, type the following command, and then press ENTER:

  1. And type the following and press Enter:

Get-AppXPackage -AllUsers | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage –DisableDevelopmentMod  e -Register “$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml”}

  1. Create a new user and check whether it helps. To do this, open an Command Prompt (Admin) window, type the following and hit Enter:

net user username /add

Here in the username position, you need to enter your user name. You will receive a message “completed successfully”, once your get the new user account, log into your new account and check whether the issue got resolved.
